A Japanese bottle-shaped bronze vase depicting an elephant coming out of the vase with its tusks, trunk and ear. Upper neck with floral decoration with hanging rings.

Signed under the base within a square reserve Seiya Sei せいや製, Genryusai Seiya.

Active in Japan during the Meiji period (1868-1912) Genryusai Seiya was the master craftsman specializing in high-quality bronzes. His works included studies of animals in bronze, but also scenes of daily life depicting human figures.
