A Japanese bamboo brush holder carved and decorated in makiè lacquer finely carved with a bas-relief depicting a Rakan with the engraver’s signature on the side Chikusai 竹斎, surrounded by the makiè gold lacquer decoration with bamboo plants and flying butterflies and nightingales, with the decorator’s signature on the side Ryūōsai 柳王斎.

Excellent color and blond patina.
