An exceptional size Japanese ivory Tokyo School koro sculpted in the stiacciato technique, depicting scenes of everyday life with characters representing Japanese society in a complete landscape context close to nature with a characteristic 18th-century house. Supported by four karashishis with protruding tongues, two handles with monkeys climbing in search of fruit, surrounded by finely carved floral motifs in relief.
Topside in floral motifs with vine leaves and grapes and monkeys, taken with a monkey holding a toad as a trophy and with the cub admiring the scene.
Signed Komei on top and front side.
